Test::Unit problem

I'm having a curious problem: I keep getting the same error trying to run unit tests from the CVS distribution of Ruby.
I just did a clean checkout (not update), configure, and install into a fresh directory. When I try to run a unit test, I get:

The load path looks good to me; the error is occurring while trying to require
test/unit/ui/console/testrunner.
Can somebody verify for me that Test::Unit works on a *clean* install (IE,
no existing Test::Unit installs are available on the load path)? This would mean
that the problem is on my end.
Or, has something changed that requires running tests differently?
Thanks.
