Troubles building 1.8.6 on Solaris 10
Hi everyone,
I am having a problem installing Ruby properly on an x86 Solaris 10 machine.
I appreciate any help.
uname -a
SunOS lambda 5.10 Generic_120012-14 i86pc i386 i86pc
Downloaded ruby 1.8.6 (2007-09-24 patchlevel 111) and configured it with...
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-pthread
--with-readline-dir=/usr/local
Used make and make install to install ruby to /usr/local/bin and there were
no errors during installation.
When I try to install rubygems or run the following command...
ruby -e "require 'thread'"
This error pops up...
/usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/i386-solaris2.10/thread.so: ld.so.1: ruby: fatal:
libgcc_s.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory -
/usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/i386-solaris2.10/thread.so (LoadError)
from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/thread.rb:5
from -e:1:in `require'
from -e:1
And /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/i386-solaris2.10/thread.so most certainly
exists.
I'm not sure what to try next. Different versions of 1.8.6 are failing
similarly.
Thanks,
Justin
