We're using ruby for our scripting purposes. Right now, the biggest use is in creating snapshots of Oracle databases, including taking down the database (and concurrent managers, if needed) and backing them up, and doing all based on a configuration file which specifies days to back up, whether the Concurrent Managers are involved, whether to back up or not, and whether to bring back up or not.

Hey everyone. Public service announcement here. LOL. I wanted to spare you some heartache. If you have a website at all DO NOT use Crosswinds.net. I had a website there for a month and spent hours everyday working on it and have been getting a thousand hits a day and crosswinds.net just up and DELETED IT without even so much as a warning. now all my hard work is gone.
